Let’s be honest, yellow is not the easiest color to style. Up until last weekend, I had exactly 1 yellow article of clothing in my closet (a mustard turtleneck from Zara that I wore exactly twice last fall). But this season there seemed to be more yellow clothing options that I’d actually want to wear. This feminine peplum top in particular caught my eye and I immediately had to buy it (luckily it’s under $100!). The best part? It transitions perfectly through fall. As much as I love wearing this top in warm weather, I can’t wait to layer it under a moto jacket, bold velvet pants and leather studded booties. But for now, let’s talk about how I styled this top for summer. I opted for a palette of white, nude, gold, and black.
If you look at my Instagram, you’ll see that I literally can’t stop wearing white pants this summer (I promise I’ll stop!). I opted for white once again over denim for a fresh, summery look that’s casual enough for brunch yet polished enough to wear to work. I kept the look simple with warm accessories – a gold necklace, my go-to nude Chloe Faye bag, and black lace-up heels (which are on sale for $69, btw!). Not groundbreaking, I know, but we’re talking about yellow here!
Come fall, I’ll be pairing this top with richer hues: charcoal, oxblood, navy, and metallic gold. Let’s hope the upcoming #NSale has these colors in stock. Stay tuned for the fall version of this post.
