Like most millennials, I’m not really familiar with pre-Jenna Lyons era J.Crew (I hear it was very normcore). So when I think of J. Crew, bright colors, embellishments, and a quirky attitude come to mind – preppy yet sassy ensembles that Blair Waldorf would wear. The fall/winter 2016 collection presented at New York Fashion Week designed by former Madewell designer, Somsack Sikhounmuon, is all of those things and more. It’s the perfect balance of preppy and high fashion without being too intimidating or kitschy. With pops of pink and bold prints, the collection is the most feminine and glamorous I’ve seen yet. I’m already coveting the faux fur pink coat and the tweed pink coat (is there such a thing as having too many pink coats?). I also love the lace-up pumps, which are perfect for work or play. I’ll take a pair in leopard and another in red, please. While J.Crew sales have been in decline, this may be the collection to turn things around. What do you think?
