Let’s be honest, at some point in your career you’ve probably worn jeans on days that aren’t designated “Jeans Day” at least a handful of times. Whether it’s because you woke up late, neglected to wash your dress pants, or just want to feel comfortable (no shame in that!). We’re all guilty of it. But jeans don’t have to look sloppy for the office. Here are a few ways to look polished in your favorite jeans without pissing off your boss.
Distressed Jeans
Sure, distressed jeans may not be acceptable in most corporate environments (they’re more embraced in fashion or startup jobs), but depending on your work culture – the more laid back, the better – they can be perfectly acceptable with a conservative button-down shirt and structured blazer. One caveat is that the jeans shouldn’t be too ripped, but rather tastefully distressed without revealing too much skin. Olivia Palermo nails the look.

Dark Jeans
Full confession: I am a huge fan of wearing dark-wash jeans in lieu of dress pants and most of the time people don’t even notice the difference. Go for a coated or waxed texture with a slim fit and pair with pumps or pointed flats. Here’s some inspiration from Isabel Wilkinson of The Cut.

White Jeans
I’ll be the first to admit that I haven’t always liked white jeans but somehow Emmanuelle Alt is making them grow on me. The editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris is Insta famous for her effortless Parisian style which almost always includes jeans. Borrow her sartorial cues and pair white jeans with a black blazer and black ankle boots for an office-ready look.
