Aging effects more than just those in their 50s and 60s. In fact, most of us have been exposing our skin to the ravages of more than just time as the years have passed. Sun damage, air pollutants and internal damage due to poor diet and dehydration can all lead to skin that looks years older than it is! Luckily, it is never too late to stop the clock and turn back the signs of aging. Here we break down some of the top anti-aging products and resources at your disposal.
First
Lets start off with an anti-aging routine for 20-something skin. (Read here for for more information about skin care in your 20s.) This type of of skin is challenging to treat as it still may suffer from breakouts, can be oily and dry in parts, and is probably just beginning to show signs of sun damage. It is imperative to begin an anti-aging skin care routine now. Prevention is always better than the cure. Start your day off with a gentle cleanser. You want to use a cleanser that is fragrance free and hydrating. Invest in a good eye cream. Opt for an eye cream that contains caffeine to reduce puffiness. In the organic market, eye creams that contain bilberry, a lightening and brightening agent are all the rage. After your cleanser, use a moisturizer with sun-screen. No exceptions! This is your best way to fight the aging process and protect you from various forms of skin cancer. Look for one that blocks both UVA and UVB rays. While youre taking care of your face – dont skip the neck and hands!
Daily care.
If you do end up sweating or swimming off your sunscreen, take the few minutes you need to reapply. There are plenty of spray on toners and SPF’s available that will soothe, protect and moisturize. Neutrogena has a full range of sprays and after sun sprays that are hypoallergenic.
Night time is the right time.
I cannot stress just how important it is to thoroughly cleanse and protect your skin at night. You have been wallowing in air pollutants, touching your face, perspiring, clogging up your pores with make-up well, you get the point. In addition, going to bed with a dirty face means that youll be doing that until you wash your pillowcase next. Just think of how much dirt could be embedded in that pillow! Here’s my tried and true routine: Wash your face thoroughly with a non-drying cleanser. You never want your face to feel tight and stretched after washing. Once a week use a scrub or an exfoliating mask to pull out and draw out impurities. Invest in a gel and a serum to hydrate and heal damaged skin. If you want to use a heavy moisturizer as well as your serum, allow some time for your products to fully absorb into your skin.
Anti-aging for all.
A daily routine is key, as well as the addition of some magical extras. For skin that is sun damaged or scarred, you wont find a quicker, faster and more effective method of healing than with the Obagi-C RX System. It helps not only with sun-spots, scars, liver spots, melasma and hyperpigmentation, as well as wrinkles. Try the night therapy cream that goes to work while you sleep, allowing you to wake up with more beautiful radiant skin in a very short amount of time. Look for products that contain soy and Vitamin C for brightening and peptides to increase collagen production. Dont forget the best tip of all – beauty from the inside! Eat healthy foods, drink more water and help your body reverse the signs of aging inside out!
