Full confession: I’ve never watched Star Wars. But if there’s one thing that’s piqued my interest in the movies it’s the Rodarte and Preen fall 2014 shows at New York Fashion Week and London Fashion Week, respectively. Both collections are inspired by the sci-fi/fantasy film that has fashion geeks swooning. Except me. I don’t get it. Nonetheless, Rodarte and Preen are among my favorite shows, although if I had to choose one, I’d give the edge to Rodarte. Pastels, ruffles, and silks at Rodarte embody an ethereal utopian vibe, while Preen’s take is edgier, futuristic, and dystopian with darker colors and kaleidoscopic prints of Darth Vadar. For those of you who have watched Star Wars, let’s cogitate – which collection do you think best encapsulates the spirit of the movie?
