Backstage,
When it comes to hair, I prefer a low-maintenance look over one that will leave my wrists sore (waterfall braids be damned), so when I got my hair styled at TRESemmé during New York Fashion Week, I was content to know that I could easily emulate the airy blowout that’s sweeping the runway. As seen above from the Alice + Olivia show, the hairstyle consists of a smooth top part with a messy or airy lower half. Here’s a less exaggerated example from yours truly:
Steps:
1. The look works best on day old hair. Spritz TRESemme volumizing dry shampoo on roots and blow dry on low heat. Remember to use a heat protectant spray before heat styling. I like Beauty Protector’s Protect & Detangle.
2. Curl hair with a 1″ – 1 1/4″ inch iron (keep the top part smooth and straight).
3. After curling, gently brush curls with a round brush to create an airy, voluminous effect.
When my stylist started brushing my hair after creating sleek, soft curls, I was confused. But afterward, I decided it looked more timely and effortless than a cleaner blowout (sooo last year). For a sportier option, tie your hair in a low messy ponytail as seen at the Noon by Noor fall 2014 show.
What do you think of the hairstyle? Will you be trying it? Let me know in the comments.
