Who says crop tops are exclusive to summer? Full confession: the only crop tops I own are cropped sweaters. If anything, they seem more appropriate for fall and winter when layered under a fur vest or over a peplum tunic. I’ve discussed crop tops with other bloggers, some of whom felt enthusiastic about transitioning the summer trend to fall, while others were at loss for how to style it. Hence, this fashion tutorial post on how to wear a cropped sweater this winter without freezing. If you’re a professional or inching toward 30 and think this trend is too collegiate, then rest assured cropped sweaters are nowhere near as tiny as last season’s cropped top, and some styles are appropriate for the office (when paired with a pencil skirt, of course). Moreover, all of these options avoid showing even a sliver of skin so you won’t have to worry about hypothermia. The most popular way to wear a cropped top is with high-waisted bottoms, such as a pencil skirt, pleated skirt, of pants. My favorite would have to be the pleated skirt, which is fun and girly. For a fall-friendly look, layer the sweater over a longer top, such as a plaid button-up or a peplum, which has the appeal of a pleated skirt. Finally, polish the ensemble with a fur vest or leopard coat and over-the-knee boots.
