Last night during the Golden Globe Awards, fashion critics everywhere took to Twitter to express which gowns they loved and which they loathed. If you you may already know my sentiments: hated Emma Watson and Tina Fey’s gowns; loved Kate Beckinsale and Taylor Schilling’s. Meanwhile, there were some gowns that grew on me throughout the night like Lena Dunham’s bright lemon Zac Posen dress, which got a lot of unfair criticism. And who can forget the most talked about dress of the night? It didn’t take long for Jennifer Lawrence’s dress to become an internet meme. Her dress also grew on me throughout the night, though she definitely wins the award for best photobomb of 2014. Scroll through to see some of my favorite looks and how to steal the look for less.
Lena Dunham
This is not the first time we’ve seen Lena wearing bright yellow to a Hollywood event, but it IS one of the few times we’ve seen her in a dress that truly makes her shine. On a side note, the premiere of Girls was amazing. The scene with Natalie and Adam was one of the best of the entire series in my opinion.
Maria Menuenos
Cate Blanchett
Cate won Best Actress last night for her performance in Blue Jasmine, one of my favorite movies of 2013. Her dress from Armani Privé was also an all-around winner and, according to Refinery29, over 24k! Here’s a less expensive (though still very expensive) version from Valentino that’s just as gorgeous.
Lupita Nyongo
There was a consensus last night among fashion bloggers on Twitter that Lupita was hands-down the best-dressed on the red carpet. You can snag her red evening cape from Ralph Lauren here or choose this slightly less expensive version from Gareth Pugh.
Amy Adams
Another red hot dress was from Amy Adams who won Best Actress for American Hustle. I have yet to see the movie but I’m sure she deserves the award. Get her red carpet look for less than $500 from Tibi.
