Yesterday’s #stylechat participants couldn’t stop talking about fall statement pieces, namely, over-the-knee boots. But one petite blogger expressed concern about whether she could pull them off. As a fellow shorty, I quickly chimed in, “Of course you can wear them! If anything, they elongate the legs.” I subsequently promised that I would write a post detailing how to conquer OTK boots at any size.

Those of you who have been reading my blog for a while know that I have a penchant for incorporating color in my wardrobe. Though when it comes to OTK boots I prefer to stick to black and maybe white (though I have yet to find a pair that I like enough to feature in this post). Black gives the illusion of longer, slimmer legs, thereby making us feel like the fierce and confident 5’10” models who inhabit the runway (ok, not quite, but almost).

Another reason I prefer black for OTK boots is because the color flows more smoothly if you’re wearing black leggings, tights, or dark denim. Which is not to discourage you from pursuing more adventurous colors like tan, taupe, and grey; such colors go best with coats, dresses, and skirts that are above the knees and show a sliver of skin à la Miranda Kerr and Olivia Palermo.

Are you indulging in the OTK trend this season? How are you wearing the boots?
