RUFFIAN Nail Lacquer – Fox Hunt
The first sample I tried, this vibrant orange lacquer took a lot of flak from other Birchbox subscribers, but I think it’s gorgeous. It’s not a color I would’ve picked on my own (i.e.: it is not purple, red, pink, blue, or a neutral), which is why I am all the more glad I received it in my box (Birchbox encourages me to step outside my comfort zone from time to time). What I love most about this color is its versatility – it could work for any season; it is bright enough to wear for spring/summer and dark enough for fall/winter. The nail polish line is the first from the fashion label, RUFFIAN, which also had an amazing show during NYFW.
And of course, here are my nails:
Racinne – Ultimate Youth Power Eye Serum
This serum promises to minimize the appearance of dark circles and smooth fine lines. The lightweight texture absorbs quickly and is not greasy (a rarity for eye creams). Since I’ve only tried it once this morning, I’ll hold off before writing a more comprehensive review.
Yes To Blueberries Cleansing Facial Towelettes
Although I love these paraben-free makeup remover towelettes and have used them previously, I’d prefer not to receive them – or any other sort of towelettes (like last month’s foot wipes) in my box. There’s nothing really exciting about towelettes.
Yes To Grapefruit CC Cream
Now this is a sample I was more stoked about. Having been introduced to CC cream from my first Birchbox back in April with a sample from Juice Beauty, CC cream is my go-to for targeting redness and correcting uneven skin tone. CC, which stands for color correcting, is lighter in texture than BB cream and has lesser coverage but, depending on the brand, can enhance skin’s appearance and elasticity better than a BB cream. I prefer to use CC creams on days (like today) when I’m giving my skin a break from BB cream or foundation. On a side note, I have been using Yes To Grapefruit Correct & Repair Moisturizer for the past 6 months, which has helped reduce the appearance of dark spots. Therefore, I have great hopes for this CC cream.
amika Blow Up Spray
Those of you who have read my last Birchbox review know that I was a bit disappointed by Number 4 Super Comb Prep & Protect spray; it did not come close to my much loved Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle spray. This latest installment from amika not only vows to protect my hair from heat styling but also promises shiny, “bombshell” hair. As soon as I try it, I will let you know whether or not my hair looks anything like a Victoria’s Secret model’s tresses.
Overall, this was great box and I have no disappointments. Stay tuned for more in-depth reviews of amika Blow Up Spray, Yes to Grapefruit CC Cream, and Racinne Eye Serum. For now, follow me on bloglovin’ using the link below so you won’t miss a thing!
