As New York Fashion Week draws to a close, I finally have the time and energy to blog. I sincerely apologize for being MIA this past week. As many of you know, this was my first season at NYFW and I had no idea how time consuming it would be. Nonetheless, I had a lot of fun (blisters notwithstanding) and met several amazing bloggers, designers, and other fashion industry professionals. Here is a recap of what I did and what I wore this past week. Most of these pictures were taken with a camera phone, so please excuse the quality. Don’t forget to check back for my recap of the shows.
Quite possibly my favorite cupcakes ever, I indulged in Baked by Melissa right before the show:
The
What I’m Wearing: Missoni bordeaux cardigan; boucle green Topshop dress; Elizabeth & James black pumps.
Fellow blogger, Katie of Lucy & Camilla (you may remember her from my interview on blogging tips a couple months ago) and I hosted a blogger lunch at Bryant Park. We met with Brittany of Piece, Love & Sole; Alyssa of Runway Chef; Key of Six Inch Fetish; Marcie-Pier of A Fashion Note; Sarah of I Bleed Fashion; and Kelly of Sparkles and Shoes.
What I’m Wearing: Ella phentermine without rx Moss dress; Fendi caged heels; Kate Spade snakeskin bag.
The New Fashion Night Out Party. Since Fashion Night Out is dead (or just on hiatus?), blogger Yvonne Tucker from Style by Yvonne organized an alternative – the new fashion night out party at 48 Lounge.
Left to right: Me, Katie from Lucy & Camilla, and Simone from Fashion Runs the World.
What I’m Wearing: Ella Moss dress; Fendi caged heels; Milly ruffled cardigan; Kate Spade snakeskin bag.
Deborah Lippmann nails. I love the Deborah Lippmann glitter collection, which reminds me of Anna Sui’s line of nail polish. These colors are “Laughin’ all the way to the bank” (base coat) and “Shake your money maker” (top coat). A fashion writer at NYFW said the color reminded her of fish scales; I wholeheartedly agreed.
NYFW’s best kept secret for newbies – hairstyles courtesy of TRESemme. If you were in NYC these past couples days – and especially yesterday – you know that the humidity wasn’t conducive to fashion week hair (or maybe it is if you’re going for the 70’s frizzy hair look). Luckily, the talented stylists representing TRESemme took care of that.
What I’m Wearing: Anna Sui for Anthropologie dress; Zara ankle-studded strap heels; Kate Spade earrings.
Style Network had an exhibit at NYFW entitled “Style to Rock” that reminded me of The Great Gatsby.
