New York Fashion Week unfolds tomorrow with brights looks from the Spring 2014 collection, and though I am partial to the Fall shows (they are more lavish, in my opinion), I am duly excited to attend NYFW as a blogger. In the coming days you’ll read my updates from the shows (and parties!), including an inside look at up-and-coming designers. Since this is my first time attending fashion week despite having lived in NYC for so many years (why did I pass up on fashion week when I attended Parsons??), I am a little nervous about how to prepare and, more importantly, what
My go-to item would have to be this clutch I found in Marshalls not too long ago. Its an unknown brand but I know its already made it into the hands of some bloggers Im following. This tiny little item describes me so well. I work full time so in my free time I like to step away from certain looks and I prefer more edgy looks or pieces. Im a little rocker at heart so the studs and skulls are probably my favorite part. I also like the fact that this clutch is very girly and glamorous with all the bling it has. Its very convenient because it has little spots for your fingers (kind of like brass knuckles) where you can hold it even better than a clutch. This clutch has a long chain as well and if that wasnt awesome enough it is big enough to put my phone, ID, cards, and any other little goodies I want in there. I would choose this for Fashion Week just because its small but not too small, I can easily hold onto it, and its different from your average evening clutch. Moda by Monika.
“It’s kind of hard to choose just one thing that represents my style that I would wear to NYFW. I have so many different things that make up my style such as accessories, lipstick, etc. However, I chose a black dress. I’m going to be actually wearing the exact same dress that is pictured here. I chose this dress because, you can’t go wrong with a black dress. It’s a must have item that every woman should have and you can’t go wrong with having too many. It’s fashion week and majority of people will be wearing the trends for this season and I didn’t want to be included in that group. I wanted to wear something classic, edgy and makes me stand out a little bit from the rest of the crowd. The detailing of the dress is beautiful from the collar to the polka dots to the fullness of the skirt. This dress buy phentermine usa fits my style; which is something I can’t really define because I just wear clothes that I like. If I like it then I will wear it and I love this dress.” Fashion Runs the World.
“Hey Style Context readers! Lyss, here, from SettingSAIL blog. I’m not sure about you, but when I think NYFW, I think put-together, smart and edgy. So when Diane asked what one item represents my NYFW style I decided on the one item in my closet that always has my back – denim. This pair of Rag and Bone, Bromley distressed jean is my new favourite! It’s made for an easy transition into fall as I trade in my demin cut-offs and I love the easy versatility of this item! Here’s a picture of how I would style these new favs for NYFW adding an easy white button up shirt and a sharp black leather sleeved jacket. Not only does this look follow the current black-and-white trend, but it also works well for the warm to cool weather of early September. I’m not quite ready to sport boots yet so I added a bold pair of black heels to continue my take on the classics. Be sure to check out more of my looks, and take on spaces and events on my blog at www.SettingSAIL.ca.”
“My fashion philosophy is that in order to look amazing, you have to feel great first! Through the many years of growing into my own style, Ive found that the element of utmost importance to me is comfort. Thats why for NYFW, I would wear Dolce & Gabbana jeweled tartan pointed-toe flats! Because Im petite, my closet is overflowing with pointed-toe flats! Known for elongating the leg, pointed-toe flats also add a sophisticated flair to any look. The jeweled embellishment dresses up the shoe- and I love anything with a little extra sparkle!” The Closet by Christie.
“I just got off the plane to New York and after so many hours of sleep, the sun can do real damage to my eyes so I put on my sunglasses. Later, the weather changes a bit and even if the sun is still shinning, it is kind of cod outside, so I decide to pair my “oversize blazer and minimalist dress” outfit with a pair of cat eye sunglasses when attending a show at NYFW. At night, I find out that, indeed, New York is the city that never sleeps when I attend a party dressed in a silk blouse and linen pants and accessorized with a a pair of clear lens sunglasses, going for a geeky look. But, no, I am not talking about three different pairs of sunglasses but about a versatile one, which you can pair to any outfit for the finishing touches. This is the accessory I would try not to forget at home when in the ever-changing city and I advise you to do the same. Bon voyage!” Letters from the Vintage Club.
