As one of fall’s most quintessential statement pieces, the bootie is anything but a shadow of its taller, fiercer alter ego, the boot. For one thing, the versatility of the bootie lends itself to a smoother transition from summer to fall to winter, and especially through spring (open-toe lace-up booties, anyone?). Unlike the boot, the bootie doesn’t look out of place on warmer days (I should know, I lived in Florida) when anything above the ankle is too stifling. So before you begin scouting for over-the-knee boots (believe me, I can’t wait to wear them either!), here are four fall booties to consider before making the jump.
Alice + Olivia Tamara Suede Pumps//MICHAEL Michael Kors Oxblood Booties//Joie Pinyon Flat Boots//Sam Edelman Knox Lace Up Booties
Where to Wear:
Girls’ Night: These low cut, d’orsay pumps from Alice + Olivia aren’t your typical booties but then, they’re for the quirky, fun, sophisticated girl who loves an unconventional twist on a classic style. Style tip: pair with a brocade skirt also from A+O.
9-to-5: Wine hues are back this season and I couldn’t be more excited to trade in my black pumps for a passionate oxblood. These Michael Kors booties work (pun not intended) well during and after office hours. Style tip: pair it with a neutral tweed blazer like this one from Tory Burch.
Weekend: Although I am a heels girl, there are times when a flat shoe makes life walking around the city all day less exhausting. Luckily, these slouchy, flat Joie boots don’t compromise on chic. Style tip: pair with oxblood or black skinnies.
Fashion Week: The perfect fall statement shoe, these Sam Edelman booties are sure to get you noticed at NYFW next week (and let’s be honest, you definitely want to have picture taken by a prominent fashion blogger). Best part? These booties will go with anything. No really, be creative.
