Miss Jessie’s Pillow Soft Curls: I can’t say enough great things about this product. Just a week before receiving this in my Birchbox, I ordered a sample of Pillow Soft Curls from Miss Jessie’s website. The lotion leaves my curls soft and frizz-free. Read my extended review of Pillow Soft Curls here.
Suki Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser: I was stoked when I received this, seeing as it has rave reviews online. However, the product arrived extremely hardened so I’ve been unable to test it. I’ve since emailed the Birchbox team. I will report back with a full review of Suki once I can use it.
Oscar de la Renta Something Blue: This is my first Birchbox fragrance sample. If summer had a scent, this is what it would smell like. The fresh, lightweight, floral scent containing stephanotis, is reminiscent of other summery fragrances with a hint of something unique. Perhaps this is what Oscar de la Renta meant with the statement “Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.”
LAQA & Co Lil’ Lip (Lambchop): This is one sample I was hoping for and was lucky to receive. Not only is this bright fuchsia shade fun and flattering, as Birchbox proclaims, but it’s one of the the longest-lasting lipsticks I’ve ever tried. Case in point: I can wear one coat for at least 4 hours without it wearing off. On a side note, since the shade is very bright, I would recommend against wearing too much makeup on your eyes and cheekbones when wearing this; instead, opt for an otherwise natural look.
Color Club Wanderlust Collection: Each month Birchbox posts teasers on its Facebook page, asking members to guess what may be in their upcoming box. One revelation was the wanderlust nail polish collection in celebration of Birchbox’s international expansion. Each member received one of four neon nail polish colors inspired by London, Barcelona, Paris, and NYC. I received London Calling, a neon green that reminds me of the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, but in a totally cool and downtown-chic way, of course. Although this color is a huge divergence from my typical nail polish shades, I’m always willing to step outside my comfort zone – especially when it comes to nail polish.
Twistband: I received this as a beauty extra. Although I’m long past the days of wearing my hair up in a ponytail (insert ridiculous picture of myself with a 90’s-style ponytail), I might use this for braids. For now, I’ll just wear it around my wrist.
I always love to hear what my readers and fellow bloggers got in their Birchbox (though sometimes it results in Birchbox envy!). What’s your favorite sample from this month? If you’re not a member yet, click here to join!
