Over-the-knee boots sometimes get a bad rap for being (pun intended) too over the top, but they’re my fall and winter staple of choice. In addition protecting my legs from the bone-chilling Northeast weather, these boots from Sam Edelman also help elongate my 5’1″ frame (the heel also helps!). Here are a few ways I like to style over-the-knee boots for both work and weekend.
Skinny pants and cape. I picked up this vintage cape from a recent POSH Sale and it’s by far my favorite coat to wear with over-the-knee boots for an effortless mod look. For night-time version, trade the sweater and pants for a pleated dress and polka-dot tights.
Cropped sweater and pencil skirt. This outfit helps create balance in a number of ways: the high-waisted pencil skirt balances out the cropped sweater, and the shorter hem of the sweater balances the high boots creating a harmonious ensemble (who says fashion can’t be like music?!). As a petite, cropped tops don’t usually look short on me but that works in my favor, especially during winter months.
