After seeing Kate Bosworth at the LuckyFABB conference, I have a stronger affinity for her sleek and sophisticated collaboration with Topshop. In her interview with Lucky magazine editor-in-chief, Eva Chen, Kate described her creative process of designing clothes, “how do I want to feel with this collection, and what sort of emotion do I want to put out in the world, and what do I feel like wearing?” Surely, the collection, inspired by Piet Mondrian’s modernist paintings, is a reflection of Kate’s classic aesthetic: masculine-meets-feminine, uptown-meets-downtown.
The soft-spoken actress attended the event wearing key pieces from her collection including an asymmetrical metallic skirt that I have been coveting ever since, and which now appears to be sold out (why??!). However, other metallic pieces are still available, such as this crinkled metallic dress that reminds me of the Times Square Ball (possible New Year’s Eve dress?). Can we also talk about the shoes? Much like Kate, they are pretty much perfection and would pair flawlessly with a wide range of outfits including workwear and evening (although hopefully they are comfortable enough to make a smooth transition after your 9-to-5). I also love the the shearling coat, which proves that warmth need not be conflated with frumpy. And the white skirt is a soft, subdued contrast to the other pieces.
Which piece are you coveting? We know it’s hard to just choose one. Just don’t let any of these pieces be “the one who got away.”
