How would you describe your style?
My style is classic meets modern. I try to incorporate vintage pieces with trendy pieces. Like a vintage skirt with a men’s graphic T-shirt. My style is ever changing. I’m always finding new things that I’m into at the moment. Like right now it’s vintage. Next, who knows!
Who are your top fashion influencers?
I love Karla from Karla’s Closet. She’s the best when it comes to vintage clothing. She always finds the most unique pieces. Kookie from Death by Platforms. She’s my new favorite. She’s very edgy, modern, and has the best shoes ever!!! I saved the best for last, Rachel Zoe. She is the queen of fashion to me! I love everything that she does. She’s a stylist, designer, and editor. I love how she worked her way to the top and has maintained that position. In all, I love regular, day to day people. I can look at a picture and tell whether you really wore that outfit that day or if you just put it on for the picture. I like people that I can relate to.
If you only had to pack 5 clothing items for a trip, what would you take?
My favorite Levi’s jeans (because they go with everything), a black and white striped t-shirt (my favorite kind of t-shirt), a black blazer (a blazer can dress up any outfit), a floral vintage skirt, and black pointed toe pumps.
What is your favorite and least favorite trend this summer?
I love the mix and match of colors and patterns. Who knew that there would come a time when polka dots and stripes could be worn within the same outfit and look great? I don’t like all of the bright colors. Don’t get me wrong, I love seeing colors, but when it is done correctly. Everything isn’t for everyone. You have to wear what looks good on you, not what looked good on someone else.
What are your styling tips for mixing colors and patterns?
Mixing prints can be very easy to do, if you know what prints match. First, I think that stripes pretty much go with any print. You could also try solid color polka dots. Another tip would be to add a neutral. You need to balance out all of the patterns that are in your outfit with a basic shoe and purse/clutch. Lastly, have fun with it! Try on different patterns to see which one you like. Sometimes I can never tell if I like something until I try it on. That way you are able to add and take away pieces until you find the right match.
Are there any other styling tips you’d like to offer?
Have fun with fashion. Find things that work best for you and if you can’t figure it out, there’s always bloggers. As a blogger, I try to give my insight on fashion and what works for me. But who knows, what works for me, may work for you too.
Great advice! Thanks so much for your tips.
Thanks for having me and make sure you check out my blog Closet Struck to see what style I’m into next.
